New Surgery Technology: The PEAK® Surgical System

PEAK Surgical, Inc. announces their latest advancement in surgery technology, the PEAK® Surgical System.  The new technology is a single tool that makes concise incisions, controls bleeding, and avoids extensive damage to surrounding tissues. For patients, the PEAK® Surgical System means less bleeding, reduced swelling, better wound healing, and less scarring.

Traditional surgeries use more than one tool:  A scalpel for making incisions in delicate tissues and an electrosurgical device for controlling bleeding and making incisions in thicker tissues. Traditional surgery methods run the risk of damaging surrounding tissues and causing scarring. In contrast, the PEAK® Surgical System consists of the one tool, eliminating the need for surgeons to switch devices while performing surgery.  The state-of-the art PULSAR™ Generator delivers pulsed radiofrequency energy through the PEAK PlasmaBlade™ 4.0, allowing for precise incisions and bleeding control at the same time. Additionally, the PEAK® Surgical System can be used in a wet or dry surgical area.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted clearance for the PEAK Surgical System to be marketed for general surgery.  PEAK is exploring its use in other fields, including plastic and reconstructive surgery, neurosurgery, gynecologic surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery.
