Heart Disease Risk Factors

Services Provided by Heartland Cardiovascular Center

EKG ReadoutNon-Invasive Testing

  • Electrocardiogram
  • Echocardiogram
  • Stress Testing
  • Vascular Imaging
Vascular imaging is used to show how well the blood flows through the blood vessels. The doctors at Heartland Cardiovascular Center recognize the importance of early detection and treatment of vascular conditions. Vascular imaging is used to evaluate blood flow problems, such as clots, narrowed blood vessels, and blood vessel malformation. There are several types of vascular imaging tests, including ultrasound, magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), and computed tomograhphic angiography (CTA), and digital subtraction angiography (DSA).
  • Event Monitors
An event monitor is a small device that records and stores your heart rhythm. The device includes electrodes that attach to the chest and a small device that records your heart rhythm when you have symptoms. The monitor is always on, but it will only record information when you press a button upon having symptoms. An even monitor is typically worn for weeks or months.
  • Home Blood Pressure Monitoring
Home blood pressure monitoring can help measure your true blood pressure and create a record of your blood pressure over time. Home blood pressure monitoring is helpful in diagnosing, treating, and preventing cardiovascular problems. At Heartland Cardiovascular Center, we realize that some people experience a rise in blood pressure when it is measured in a doctor’s office because of “white coat syndrome” or stress. Home blood pressure monitoring allows you to take your blood pressure in a relaxed atmosphere, your home.
  • Tilt Table Testing
Tilt table testing is used to check for sudden drops in blood pressure or heart rate that can cause fainting or syncope. For the test, you will be secured to a table. The table will be positioned at different inclines for various periods of time. Your blood pressure and ECG will be recorded. An ECG records your heart’s electrical activity to evaluate if it is beating normally.
  • Nuclear Cardiology
Nuclear cardiology studies are used to evaluate how well the heart pumps blood. They may help to diagnose coronary artery disease and predict the prognosis of people with heart disease. Nuclear cardiology studies create images of the heart while it is beating. There are several types of nuclear cardiology assessments, including myocardial perfusion testing, radionuclide ventriculography, and positron emission tomography (PET). Our doctors are experts at nuclear cardiology techniques and include specialists that are Board Certified in Nuclear Cardiology.
  • Stress Echocardiography
Stress echocardiography, also called stress echo, is a test used to help diagnose coronary heart disease. A stress echocardiogram shows how your heart works during “stress” or exercise. The test entails echocardiogram testing that is done before and during or after you exercise on a treadmill or stationary bicycle. The echocardiogram uses sound waves to produce an image of your heart on a monitor.
